Eye examination in newborn babies is one of the basic examinations for the solution of\ncongenital eye problems, which is necessary for early diagnosis and treatment.<\/span><\/p>\n

WHEN SHOULD EYE EXAMINATION BE PERFORMED IN NEWBORN BABIES?<\/span><\/h2>\n

It is recommended that eye examination in newborn babies be done within a few months\nfrom birth. Performing an eye examination in the first 6 months is important in terms of\nearly diagnosis and treatment of any eye disorders.<\/span><\/p>\n

Blocked tear duct is one of the most common ailments, especially in infants. It can cause\nburring and watering in the eye. Generally, it can be relieved by itself in the first year, but\neye drops and warm compress may be applied if necessary and with recommendations\nof the ophthalmologist. However, in some cases, a small operation may be required. The\nneed may derive from the increase in intraocular blood pressure, which can also cause\nwatering in the eye. Ocular hypertension is an urgent situation and an ophthalmologist\ncheck is required as soon as possible.<\/span><\/p>\n
