A pinguecula is a benign growth that develops on your eye. These growths occur on the\nconjunctiva, which is the thin layer of tissue that covers the white part of your eye. You\ncan get pingueculae at any age, but they\u2019re mainly found in middle-aged and elderly\npeople.<\/span><\/p>\n Patients apply to an ophthalmologist when they realize a yellow spot on the white of the\neye. Complaints of the patients with a pinguecula are burning and stinging sensations.\nPatients might also have aesthetic concerns.<\/span><\/p>\n Pinguecula is accumulation of conjunctival tissue at the nasal or temporal junction of the\nsclera and cornea. Pterygium is conjunctival tissue that becomes vascularized, invades\nthe cornea, and may decrease vision.<\/span><\/p>\n If the yellow spot in the white of the eye is just developing, it is treated with eye drops to\nreduce the stinging and burning sensation.
