Dry Eye Treatment<\/span><\/h1>\n

Dry eye syndrome, also known as dry eye, is the name of the disorder caused by\ninadequate production of tears, insufficient quality of tears, and tears\u2019 inability to form a\ngood quality layer on the eye. Dry eye disease is a condition whose incidence has\nincreased especially with the development of the industrial society. An ophthalmologist's\nexamination is required for the diagnosis and treatment of dry eye disease.<\/span><\/p>\n

Dry Eye and Tears<\/span><\/h2>\n

Tears are composed of 97.8% water, 0.9% sodium chloride and 0.4% protein. They have\nsame osmotic pressure as body fluids (globulin, albumin, etc.). They provide moisture for\neyes. Eyes are washed regularly with tears. In addition, they are crucial to prevent any\ninfection that may occur on eye surface, and prevents the particles adhere to eye.<\/span><\/p>\n

How Does Dry Eye Develop?<\/span><\/h2>\n

In today's society, both the effect of greenhouse gases, the poor quality of the air we\nbreathe, and the adverse health conditions created by ourselves, our tear gland cannot\nperform a qualified eye wash. Dry eye syndrome is a disorder that is more common in\nelderly people and in individuals who work intensively at their desk. It is more common in\nwomen after menopause. Dry eye caused by vitamin A deficiency is observed in\nunderdeveloped countries.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

In addition, the use of drugs such as antihistamines, beta-blockers and diuretics can\ncause the development of dry eye.<\/span><\/p>\n

Symptoms of Dry Eye Syndrome:<\/span><\/h2>\n

Dry eye syndrome has obvious symptoms that can be understood by patients.<\/h3>\n

  • \u00a0Development of a stinging sensation and burning sensation<\/span><\/li>\n
  • \u00a0Having a viscous and dense fluid in and around the eye<\/span><\/li>\n
  • \u00a0Redness of the eye<\/span><\/li>\n
  • \u00a0If contact lenses are used, increased sensation of stinging when using lenses<\/span><\/li>\n
  • \u00a0At times, feeling of excessive watering and tiredness<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Dry eye is measured with the Schirmer test. The Schirmer test can be performed by an\nophthalmologist. An ophthalmologist's control is essential for a complete diagnosis of dry\neye.<\/span><\/p>\n

    Treatment of Dry Eye Disease<\/span><\/h2>\n

    The most commonly used method for treating dry eye is artificial tear drops. These eye\ndrops are products with the same osmotic pressure as tears and mimic tears in the eye.\nThis way, the intraocular is reached to the desired density and moist environment as in\ntear drops. The choice of artificial tears should be determined by your ophthalmologist in\naccordance with your individual characteristics and the condition of your disease. Dosage\nand frequency are also be determined by your physician.\nAmong alternative methods is the obstruction of the channel which leads to the nose. In\naddition, the dry eye patient must protect himself from environmental factors such as air\nconditioning, stove, and smoking.
