The longer the\nhuman life span, the more the disease is seen. As the name suggests, this is an aging\ndisease. Development of devices used in diagnosis made it necessary for\nophthalmologists to devote more and more time to this disease.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"brk-dark-font-color font__size-16 font__weight-normal line__height-26 mb-10\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Although the effect of genetic factors in Age-Related Macular Degeneration is\nscientifically proven, we can state that it is seen more and earlier in patients with\nhypertension and diabetes. Age Related Macular Degeneration is examined in two types,\nalthough it shows transitions to each other;<\/span><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"brk-dark-font-color font__size-16 font__weight-normal line__height-26\"><span class=\"font__weight-light\">1 - Dry macular degeneration<\/span><\/h3>\n<p class=\"brk-dark-font-color font__size-16 font__weight-normal line__height-26 mb-10\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Dry macular degeneration is a common eye disorder among people over 50. It causes\nblurred or reduced central vision, due to thinning of the macula.\nThe most commonly used method to treat this disorder works on the principle of melting\ncataract tissue with ultrasonic sound waves. With the Phacoemulsification technique,\napproximately 2.5 mm corneal incision is made in the eye and no stitches are made. It is\na method that requires an experienced surgeon.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"brk-dark-font-color font__size-16 font__weight-normal line__height-26\"><span class=\"font__weight-light\">2 - Wet macular degeneration<\/span><\/h3>\n<p class=\"brk-dark-font-color font__size-16 font__weight-normal line__height-26\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Wet (neovascular) macular degeneration is characterized by blood vessels that grow\nunder the retina and leak. It progresses very rapidly. Therefore, frequent follow-up and\nexamination is important. Vision levels deteriorate rapidly if follow-up and treatment are\nnot properly done. The positive results of these intraocular drug treatments make it possible\nto increase vision levels again.
