ASTIGMATISM TREATMENT<\/span><\/h1>\n

Astigmatism is caused by the cornea with irregular shape. The cornea is spherical in nonastigmatic eyes. The image of the object in astigmatic eyes does not fall on the macula\n(yellow spot). Part of the image of the object falls behind the macula and another part falls\nin front of the macula. Therefore, blurred vision occurs.<\/span><\/p>\n

In non-astigmatic eyes, the focus is one. The focus is more than one in eyes with\nastigmatism. Therefore, the image becomes confused, blurred. The image of the object in\nnon-astigmatic eyes literally falls on the macula. Thus, clear vision is provided.\nAstigmatism is congenital. Genetic factors are the main cause for astigmatism. Although\nit usually increases at the growing ages of a human being, it stops after the age of 18.<\/span><\/p>\n

Rare causes of astigmatism: Traumatic injuries of the cornea, droopy eyelid, viral eye\ninfections, pterygium disease, and surgical application.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0Things to Consider<\/span><\/h2>\n

If treatment is not started between the ages of 5-8 in patients with advanced astigmatism\nin early childhood, it may result in permanent amblyopia. For the same reason,\nstrabismus is also possible. Generally, the development of Keratoconus (KC) disease\nduring adolescence and youth should not be overlooked in patients with astigmatism. If\nkeratoconus disease is not treated, it causes severe vision loss.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Individuals with astigmatism can have a few symptoms before treatment or after an\ninsufficient treatment;<\/span><\/p>\n

  • \u00a0Blurred vision. Both distance vision and near vision are impaired.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • \u00a0Skipping lines while reading<\/span><\/li>\n
  • \u00a0Squinting the eyes<\/span><\/li>\n
  • \u00a0The need to get closer to TV, books, computers, and etc.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • \u00a0Night vision is worse than day vision.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n
