There are oil-producing glands called meibomian, zeis, and moll near the eyelash roots on the eyelids. Infection of these glands is called a stye, also known as hordeleum.

Why Does A Stye Occur?

One of the most common types of bacteria that cause stye infections is S. Aureus. This type of infection is seen more often when the body resistance is low, immune system is weakened, and when there are hormonal changes in the body.

How Is Stye Treatment Performed?

Style treatment is commonly performed with antibiotic pomade and antibiotic drops. It is necessary to apply a hot compress 3 times a day for 10 minutes. In rare cases, when the infection grows and causes tissue inflammation, oral systemic antibiotics and antiinflammatory medication may be required.
